I tested Stellar Converter for MBOX on a Windows 10 system with Core i3 processor and 4 GB RAM. Downloading and installing the application was a simple and seamless process. When I launched the application, the following window opened:
The application provides a list of more than a dozen popular email clients that use MBOX file format. These include Thunderbird, Claws Mail, Opera Mail, Cone, Mozilla Mail, Apple Mail, SeaMonkey, Netscape, etc. For testing purposes, I had an MBOX mailbox file of Thunderbird. So, I selected Thunderbird option and clicked the Convert button.
Note: The program also offers a Find File button that helps you to locate the MBOX files on your system.
The application scanned the provided MBOX file. Once it was done, it displayed a notification.
When I clicked the OK button, the program displayed all the emails stored in the MBOX file in a three-pane window.
All emails were listed in the middle pane and selecting a specific mail presented the email’s text in the right pane. All attachments shared with the email were also displayed in the right pane.
Interestingly, there is also a search field in the preview window’s middle pane. You can search for specific emails by using email headers, such as To, From, Subject, etc. Additionally, you can combine multiple search filters to refine the results.
I tested the search option with different keyword combinations and the results were impressive. The utility filtered the emails almost instantly and made it a lot easier to find the emails.
When I was done reading the emails, I clicked the Save Converted File button on top, under the Home tab.
A Save As window opened that listed many file format options for saving the MBOX file. These options were New PST, Existing PST, Office 365, MSG, RTF, EML, PDF, and HTML.
I selected the option New PST and clicked the Next button. A new window opened in which I provided a folder’s location for saving the PST file and clicked OK. The program then started saving the data. When it was done, it displayed an alert box. In the box, a link Open Containing Folder was also present that conveniently took me to the destination folder.
Note: In the file format selection window, the application provides Apply Filter function. You can use it to convert only specific emails in your mailbox. For instance, you can provide a date range or specific email addresses. The program will filter the emails accordingly.
